Continue with the next group of eight squares. Medium blue dots were used in the model. 6. Finish with the four corners. 7. Place binding/backing fabric near edge of the design to see how it interacts with the colors around the perimeter. If you like the arrangement, you are finished creating your design. If not, reposition squares as desired until you are pleased with the look. 8. To complete the quilt, continue with the Sew, Quilt and Bind steps. WHAT IS A TWIN FABRIC? Design interest can be enhanced by substituting a twin fabric in a design, as in the orange blocks in Basic Trip Around the World.

STORAGE AND CARE Store extra 6″ squares in plastic or archival cardboard boxes large enough for the squares to lie flat, such as the #1695 Sterlite Mini Crate plastic tote. I recommend QuiltCare Liquid Wash as an excellent laundering product for quilting fabrics. It is also great for natural fiber clothing, lingerie and linens. It is “earth friendly,” contains no phosphates or bleach and is biodegradable. For long-term storage, wrap the quilt first with archival quality, acid-free tissue paper and store in archival bags or boxes.

If it's a wall hanging, and the pin inside has a glass head, protect the project on the top and bottom of the area where the pin is with heavy cardboard. With a hammer, hit the pinhead. A glass head will shatter, and you can pull the pin out. Because this leaves little pieces of glass inside, this is appropriate for wall hangings, but not for quilts that will be washed and cuddled. Q Big disaster! Any solutions? A Time to think outside the box! Cut up your quilt into a wearable. It's already lined; just add bias binding to the raw edges or serge.
